10th June 2011
Nicholas Humphreys held their annual charity Golf Day on Friday the 13th May 2011 at Lingdale golf club. There were 18 teams from local businesses and Leicester legends footballers Steve Walsh attended with his team of Muzzy Izzet, Gerry Taggert and Matt Elliott. Mr Maximum himself Willie Thorne also entered a team. Willie really added to the evenings entertainment. The day was a real hit and enjoyed by all!
The winning team on the day with a worthy score of 88 points was Clive Major, Steve and Ben Murphy and Jamie Benton of Charnwood Fencing. They received the winning trophy and individual medals and a prize presented by Willie Thorne.
The weather stayed favorable for the day and everyone enjoyed the fantastic surroundings at Lingdale and the always exciting raffle and auction in the evening. The auction was conducted by Willie Thorne, with his own individual style of auctioneering and after dinner speech he certainly raised a few laughs and encouraged everyone to participate. Managing Director Nick Humphreys said we will have raised over two and a half thousand pounds on the evening for Rainbows and this is due to the kindness and generosity of all of the teams that took part, it is an absolute privilege for our business to be able to hold this annual event and donate the proceeds to such a worthwhile cause. From visiting the Hospice myself I know that the donations are much appreciated and put to good use making a difference to the children and families that Rainbows supports. Over the years we have raised tens of thousands of pounds in aid of Rainbows and hope to carry on donating to the Charity through our annual golf day and other charitable events.
May I take this opportunity to thank all the teams that attended and made the day such a success. Also to Lingdale for providing such good hospitality and excellent course conditions as always. We look forward to seeing you all again next year at our golf day at Lingdale on Friday 18th May 2012.
